Woofstock 2013

Tickets are now being sold for a full day of friend- and fund-raising events to benefit ARF (the Humane Society of Jackson County) on Saturday, May 4, 2013. This all-day celebration is sponsored by Pinnacle Events of WNC, and includes live music, food, entertainment and education for the whole family.

The day begins with “WOOFSTOCK” at Bridge Park, a love-in for ARF featuring Blues and Barbeque, with ice cream, booths for pet pictures, paw print art, dog training and other entertainment and education for children of all ages. From noon to 3 p.m., Charles Allen, Main Street Bakery, City Lights Cafe, Soul Infusion Tea House, Half Past, Lil Harvey’s and Sundog Places, Dillsboro Smokehouse and WNC Pediatrics will all compete for the top prize in a judged barbeque competition, with ice cream from Jack the Dipper available for dessert. Live music will be provided on the outdoor stage by the Rick Balliot Blues Experience and Blues Mountain. Advance tickets will be a $10 donation for adults and $5 for children; at the door the price will be $12 for adults and $6 for children.

Later in the day, the fun moves to an “ARFter” Party at Soul Infusion Tea House and Bistro. Guests can enjoy a wine, cheese, and chocolate tasting from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., featuring the wines of Mutual Distributing paired with local cheeses from Dark Cove and Yellow Branch and chocolates from the Dillsboro Chocolate Factory. Live music from the Sylva Jazz Band accompanies the tasting until 6:30 p.m. Advance tickets are $12 and $15 at the door.

The final celebration will continue at Soul Infusion with even more live local music beginning at 7 p.m., featuring PMA, Local, and Porch 40, playing until 11 p.m. Soul Infusion will donate 10% of their day’s proceeds to ARF, and the $5 cover charge that begins at 8 p.m. also goes to support the benefit.

Your support will help ARF raise awareness and financial support for their important role in rescuing and fostering animals in Jackson County, organizing transports and providing assistance to pet owners in need. ARF is a 501c3 nonprofit corporation and is run solely by dedicated volunteers, and sponsors a weekly adoption every Saturday afternoon from 1-3 pm, adjacent to Bridge Park in downtown Sylva.

Tickets are available for purchase from April 1 until May 1 at City Lights Cafe, Soul Infusion, Jack the Dipper, Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, Mainstreet Bakery, The Pet Stop and during Saturday pet adoptions from 1-3 pm at 50 Railroad Avenue in Sylva. For more information, please visit the ARF facebook page: ARF-Jackson-County-Humane-Society or contact Julie Sylvester of Pinnacle Events of WNC at Julie@pinnacleeventswnc.com.
